Graveside Services for John Franklin “Frank” Penner will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Church of God Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma. The Rev. David Mendenhall will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fairview Funeral Home Inc and at the cemetery prior to the service on Wednesday.

John Franklin “Frank” Penner was born November 6, 1943 in Fairview, Oklahoma to John A. and Alma F. (Fruechting) Penner and passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Frank attended Fairview Schools and was active in the FFA and choir. He participated in the Speech play and class play. He joined the United States Navy and served from 1964 to 1966. Frank had many jobs in the Oil Field and at one time had a lawn mowing business. Frank was a man with many interests. He was an amateur radio operator, call sign KC5PCI and a CB radio operator with the handle of White Streaker. Frank also had a side band radio. His original side band call sign was W.O.K. 260 and then later was 879. He was the fifth member of the CB Black Sheep Radio Club and was the only original member left prior to his death. He was a NASCAR collector, liked to fish and was an avid OU fan. He raised homing pigeons and in earlier days raised dogs, Chihuahuas and Chows. Frank’s good friend and companion was his pet Pomeranian, Little Bit. Frank is survived by his adopted son Rodney Eugene Penner of Mississippi; Uncle Dan Penner and his wife Elsie of Medora, Kansas; long time friend Robert Buller and many cousins.

His parents preceded Frank in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. to help towards funeral expenses.
