Anna Mae Parker

Died: May 09, 2009

Anna Mae (Stevens) Parker, 91, passed away Saturday, May 9th, 2009, at the Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Crescent, Oklahoma. Anna Mae "Aunt Pookie" Parker was born April 29th, 1918, in Luther, Oklahoma, to Earl John and Lula Emma (Davis) Stevens, and was a Luther High School graduate. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Howard Arthur Parker, in July, 1990; her sisters Katy Bell Cook and Eula Stevens, and her brothers Troy and Earl. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Daves, of Sundance, Wyoming; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah; 3 great granddaughters, Kora, Madyson, and Cynthia; one great grandson, Jayden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Anna Mae was a farm wife, homemaker, wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She worked in the lunch room at Deer Creek School, Edmond, Oklahoma, for several years; on one occasion she and her husband, Howard, received an award for being the most dedicated fans of the high school basketball team. She was well known for her patient, compassionate, and forgiving nature; and her delicious fried chicken and cherry pie. She never complained or ask for more, she only asked what more she could do to help. Anna Mae was a devoted Christian and throughout her life, a member of the Churches of Christ in Edmond, Wewoka, and Guthrie, Oklahoma. She will be dearly missed by all of us; we will always love her, and she will forever be in our hearts. May she rest in eternal comfort and peace in the grace and love of God in Heaven. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2009, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 9:00 AM at the Smith Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
