Logan County, Oklahoma named after Senator John A Logan of Illinois on August 5, 1890. Later, the town of Guthrie was Oklahomas capital city from 1907-1910 when it was moved to Oklahoma City. With an estimated population of 26,563 in 1900 to 46,784 in 2017. Oklahoma Cemeteries has located and documented over 40 cemeteries across the county.
Many of these cemeteries are located on private land or they are not in plain view as some modern locations might be. Always speak to land owners before entering private land.
Logan county is rich in American history and days of the Old West. I would encourage anyone visiting these locations to take the time to fully research and understand why this county is loved and cherished by all who call it home.
Summit View Cemetery is ran by the City of Guthrie and is known for its section titled "Boot Hill". Boot hill is the resting place for well-known outlaws such as Bill Doolin, Charlie Pierce, Richard West, Bert Casey and Elmer McCurdy
Information we Need
If you have burial information or can add anything to these pages, please contact the area coordinator by email with that information.
When submitting photos or other information we ask that the information be first hand and not extracted from another website.
Things that are common to submit are photos of a loved one or of a headstone. Obits that you've written or have permission to use or
a short story of a person and their life. Photos of the cemeteries or even something as small as providing directions or pin pointing were locations are
within the county are all welcomed and very much needed.
If ever any questions, please contact the area coordinator. You can also view our "How to Submit" page for more information.
Just a few minutes-
Chances are your researching your family’s history or helping someone else with theirs. The pages on this site are made 100% of volunteers who simply wanted to share their time helping others connect in some way with their past. We are always looking for people to help us out if different areas. No special skills needed in any area, no schedule to keep, share your time when and how you can. Areas we need help in are documenting/researching, Photographing, and putting information online (no web building exp needed).
Please contact the area coordinator or email Tammie with questions or to get started.
I hope to add your name to the list of Volunteers Soon!
