James Vernon Adams, Sr

December 2, 1938 ~ December 1, 2020

James Vernon Adams, Sr., of Chandler, was born December 20, 1938 in Warren, Arkansas. He passed away December 1, 2020 in Oklahoma City at the age of 81.

James proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a military police officer for 4 years. He enjoyed building and collecting classic cars. He and his wife Uyvonna Jo were members of the Oklahoma Runaways, a classic car club. He also enjoyed restoring and collecting antique toys. James loved to tinker and enjoyed the past-time of fishing.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Duffie Mae (Russell); son, Charles Adams; brother, Phillip Langley. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Uyvonna Jo (Brown) Adams of the home; sons, Kavin Adams and his wife Sharon of Broken Arrow; James (Jimmy) Adams, Jr. of Norman; stepson, David McBride, Jr. of Oklahoma City; brother, Zell Adams of California; (4) grandchildren, David Adams, Kavin Adams, Jr., Charles Adams, Derick Adams; (4) great-grandchildren, Kavin Adams, III, Abigail Adams, Anna Adams, Austin Adams; along with other family and friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2020 at the funeral home. A private graveside funeral will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the Star Valley Cemetery in Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
