Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Melissa was born in Cushing, Ok on January 20, 1972 to Bob and Melba Myers. She grew up in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School in 1990. She was Baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on December 4, 1988 by Bro. Jerry Dowe Pruitt. She married the love of her life, Jason Johnson on September 22, 1990 and to this union they had 5 children: Mashae, Tyler, Sasha, Jocelyn and Jayden. She knew from an early age that she wanted to go to Heaven and lived her life with that goal in mind. She whole-heartedly put her trust in God and held onto his hand to the very end.

Melissa was small in stature but she made up for her small size with a very big heart. She was always worrying about everyone else instead of herself. Those of you that knew her well; knew that she had a good sense of humor too. She always knew how to make you laugh. Jason had to learn to adjust to this, as he didn't have as good a sense of humor as she did. But she taught him to laugh, sometimes even at himself. One of her favorite stories to tell had something to do about a key at the lake, but we won't go into detail about that. She would always say if someone got hurt that God was giving them a spanking for doing something they weren't supposed to be doing. Of course she was the recipient of these spankings from time to time. Like the time she spent the night at Kelly's house and layed out in the sun in her bikini and got sun burnt. She loved to go shopping, but it wasn't so much about buying something that she loved, it was the challenge of seeing how much money she could save while shopping. She had fun while shopping with Beth and Tina as well and I'm sure there are some stories to tell about those two. Melissa looked forward to the outings with her friends. I can't recall any of the stories but evidence of these trips shows up in pictures from time to time. She loved to travel and was able to go to many cities in the United States that included: Hawaii, New York, Dallas, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles as well as England and Germany. She loved going through the old cemeteries and looking at the headstones. She taught her daughters to be a good housewife and have hospitality toward the Brethren. She always had an unconditional love for the Brethren as well. She was a good listener when her girls needed to talk and was always ready to give sound advice when needed.

Melissa was preceded in death by her Son Tyler Johnson, Father Bob Myers, Sister Chele Myers and Brother in-law Byron Pittser. She is survived by her Husband Jason Johnson, Daughter Jocelyn Johnson and Son Jayden Johnson of the Home. Daughter Mashae Poulson and Husband Jeff of Vici, Ok. Daughter Sasha Chapman and Husband Bugg of Morgantown, In. Grandsons Zye and Lennox of Vici, Ok. Granddaughter Sparrow Chapman of Morgantown, In. Mother Melba Myers of Cushing. Sister Susan Pittser of Cushing. Brother Bobby Myers and wife Chera of Cushing. Sister Alecia Myers of Cushing and Brother Jacob Myers of Cushing.
