Violet "Dot" Elizabeth Carmichael Hubbard

March 25, 1952 ~ June 27, 2020

Violet Elizebeth (Carmichael) Hubbard, affectionately known as “Dot” and “Granny Dot” to many passed from this life on June 28, 2020 at her home in Cushing. She was born on March 25, 1952 in Cushing, Oklahoma to proud parents Port and Violet Fern (Pruitt) Carmichael.

Dot graduated from Cushing High School with the Class of 1970. She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on January 27, 1966 by Bro. Charles Pruitt. Dot was married to Charles Hubbard Jr. on April 16, 1982. She worked at Wilcoxson Grocery and spent many years making window draperies in Cushing and Tulsa. She worked for Toland Spring Crest Draperies, Jack and Bernadean Sweet Custom Draperies, and then her own business Dot’s Custom Draperies.

Many children came to love her dearly as “Granny Dot” while she ran her daycare in Cushing. One of those beautiful children was welcomed into her home in May 1994 at just a few weeks old; and never left becoming her beloved daughter, Michelle. After the daycare, Dot cooked at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Cushing and worked as an in-home caregiver until retirement. She loved playing, coaching, and watching softball and baseball. She took every opportunity to watch her grandsons play.

Dot is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Brownie Elvin Carmichael, Darrel Carmichael, and Donnie Carmichael; brother in law, Billy Toland; and two sisters in law, Cathy Carmichael, and Carla Carmichael.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Ann (Carmichael-Hubbard) Culbreath and husband James of Cushing; grandsons, Tyson and Tucker; brothers, Hubert Carmichael and wife Lorene of Enid, OK, Galen Carmichael and wife Angie of Newcastle, OK; sisters, Daisy Toland of Cushing, OK and Rosella Manues and husband Edward of Lexington, OK; sister in law Lynn Carmichael of Sapulpa, OK; and many special nephews, nieces and extended family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Church of the Firstborn, Cushing, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery. Officiants of the service will be Bro. Travin Manues, Bro. Jarod Carmichael, and Bro. Wesley Earnest.

Pallbearers: Corky Boyd, Jeff Pruitt, Brandon Greenfield, Steven Roberts, Brian Gladden, Danny Godwin, Jason Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers: Joyce Boyd, Wilma Hale, Terri Herrmann, Carlotta Carey, Megan Clevenger, Lorene Carmichael.
