Laneta "Neta" Danean Houston

Laneta “Neta” Houston, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2020 at the Drumright Hospital at the age of 52. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.

Neta was born on February 18, 1968 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Richard Lee and Alberta Rae (Floyd) Houston. She grew up in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1986. Neta worked for the Cushing Schools as a bus driver for over 14 years and a teacher’s aide for the past 6 years. She was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn and was baptized in the Summer of 2000.

Let me tell you about my baby sister, she was one of a kind yet not, she came in a pair. She was the second born of twins; she was funny, sweet, kind and generous. If you asked for her last mite, it would have been yours. She lived for the Lord and she lived for her children, those she gave birth too and those she tended too through her job. She said, they were her kids, all the time, she remembered them in conversation and in deeds – she gave with a cheery heart – be it shoes, clothes or just hugs. Love knew no end with her. She will be sorely missed by those of us that walk this earth, but I know she will rejoice with those in the Heaven; her battle is over and her crown won.

Neta is survived by her children Nocona Wright and husband James, Teddy Houston both of Drumright, sister Peggy Houston of Cushing, brother Ricky Lee Houston and wife Anita of Stillwater, nieces and nephew Ricky Houston II and wife Lacy, Lesly Ricky and husband Marvin, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents twin sister Veta Houston, brother Theodore Allen Houston and her grandparents.
