Matthew Thomas McNelly

Matthew Thomas McNelly, 37, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Matthew was born on Thursday, December 13, 1984, in Stillwater, to Thomas Dale McNelly and Billy Jean (Eskew) McNelly. He grew up in Carney, Oklahoma, graduating from Carney High School, but lived in Stillwater as an adult.

Matthew was an accomplished drummer. At the young age of 11, he started playing the drums for the Carney First Assembly of God Church and continued to do so until he was 18. He was a member in several bands during his drumming career. When Matthew wasn’t drumming, he enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, and he could cook just about anything. He made a living as a cook in restaurants throughout his life.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Eskew, and Thomas Harold and Pearl Mae McNelly.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are, his mother, Billie Jean McNelly; his father, Thomas Dale McNelly; a daughter, Bailey McNelly; four sisters, Mandy Jo Catlett, Cassandra Helton and her husband, Jacob, Jackie Catlett and Kevin Herrmann, and Bobbie LeAnn McNelly; his grandma, Rita Eskew; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
