American Baptist Home Mission Society Cemetery
aka Indian Cemetery
Kingfisher, Kingfisher County, Oklahoma
© Robert Nusz & Area Coordinators

Info from Robert Farrar in 2001-2007
This cemetery is located 10 miles West of Kingfisher on  Hiway 33, 2 miles South on the northwest Corner.

The information contained on this web page was provided by the person whose name appears with the listing, and was obtained by using one or more of the following information sources: walking the cemetery and recording the headstone information, and in many cases photographing them, talking to family members, area residents, and others that stop and talk while the cemetery is being surveyed, family bible entries, memorial cards, caretaker records, funeral home records, court house records, and newspaper archives.

This cemetery is known as the American Baptist Home Cemetery. The land for this cemetery was donated by a Mary A. Jayne from Blaine County, on January 10, 1900. The deed was recorded in Kingfisher county deeds office on February 17, 1900. It was deeded to the American Baptist Home Mission Society of New York City. The location legal description is the South East Corner of the South East Quarter of Section 26, Township 16, Range 9. This cemetery when I spotted it had just recently been brush hogged and there were a few stones laying down. Heavy tree growth close to some of the stones indicated that the cemetery had not been well maintained. The cemetery was not fenced, and there were no roads leading directly into the cemetery property.

If you have family buried in the Altona Cemetery or can take a gate photo that I can place on the website or can give driving directions to the cemetery or have obits (with newspapers permission or an obit that you can write) or tombstone photos or individual portraits or can write a short bio or have a history of the cemetery and would like to add your information to this website, contact the area coordinator for more information. You can also check out our How to Submit page.

NOTICE.
If you submit information to this website and change your e-mail address please notify the area coordinator with the county/cemetery and new e-mail address so we can keep our pages as up to date as possible.
