Sylvia Lavonne Dawe of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, December 26, 2019, at her daughter’s home at the age of 101 years.
Sylvia Lavonne Dawe was born on August 31, 1918, in Moreland, Oklahoma, to Roy Arthur and Rachel Anna (Williams) Plumlee. She moved with her family to Kay County where she graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1936. She married Roy Albert Dawe on December 25, 1938, in Tonkawa, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death in 1995 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church where she taught five year old Sunday School, served on the funeral committee and was active in the Joy Group. She also served as treasurer of Blackwell Associated Charities.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzann Terry and husband Mike of Blackwell; a son, Jeff Dawe of Blackwell; two grandchildren, Michael Dawe and Kimberly Dawe of Norman; and two great grandchildren, Matthew Starr of Tennessee and Tyler Starr of Norman.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Dawe; four sisters, Violet, Eulalia, Oletha and Pamela; and a brother, Roy.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 31st in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in her honor with the First Baptist Church or Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
