Carlton Lee Underwood of Pontotoc was born on June 25, 1934 in Pontotoc, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on Thursday April 9, 2015 at his home in Pontotoc at the age of 80 years.
Carlton resided in Pontotoc for the majority of his life, with 5 years living in the Sherman, Texas area.
He worked as a mechanic and retired as a small engine repairman, working on lawnmowers.
Carlton enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and he helped raise them. He also enjoyed the Chickasaw senior center in Connerville, Oklahoma as well as playing dominoes and shooting pool.
Carlton is survived by his three sisters Nellie Folsom of Ada, Oklahoma; Betty Martin of Pontotoc, Oklahoma; and Vera Moore of Connerville, Oklahoma; nephews and nieces, Michael and wife Deborah Hook of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; Danny Hook of Pontotoc, Oklahoma; Douglas Hook of Pontotoc, Oklahoma; Sally and husband Chad Hilburn of Wapanucka, Oklahoma; Betty Ann Goodwin of Norman, Oklahoma; Marissa Moore of Connerville, Oklahoma; Linda Carter of Ada, Oklahoma; and a special great nephew Heath which Carlton helped raise from birth to the age of 13 years old. He's also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He is also survived by a very special friend, Juanita Moody.
Carlton was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Cletus and Charles Underwood and one sister Lottie Futischa.
The viewing will be Monday April 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tishomingo Funeral Home with family hour from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Seeley Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
The Reverend Larry Hawkins will officiate the services. Pallbearers for the services will be Carlton’s nephews. Serving as an honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Reed and Bill Whelchel.
