Lee James  was born in Keota, Oklahoma on April 4, 1928 to Charles Mac and Artemissa (Takkubbee) James. 

He passed away in Keota, Oklahoma on August 28, 2020 at the age of 92.

He is survived by:

His sister : Lisa James

His nieces: Artemissa Gail (James) Colwell and husband, Jacob Wanda Leach Tanya Leach Mary James Hellen Blankenship Della Colwell

His nephews: Gary Leach Chris Smith Caleb Killough Cooper James Case Colwell Jacob Carson Colwell

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Mac and Artemissa James; his brother, Daniel; his sisters, Dora Mae Cass, Katherine Ida Shoop, Inez Juanita James, Della Ruth James, and Vicey Minnie James; and his nephews, Kyle Leach, Charles James, Ralph James, J.B. James, Daniel James, Stanley James, and Earl Wayne Moore.

Lee was a full blood Choctaw, fluent in the language.  He is the last full blood in the immediate family.  Lee worked all his life; first in the fields picking and hoeing cotton and beans.  He loved being outside when he wasn’t working and taking care of his cattle.  He loved to hunt and fish.  He loved to tell stories of coon hunting and his favorite, quail hunting with his bird dogs.  He was an exceptional quail hunter. Lee loved his family – he was always there to support them.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Simon Isaac Cemetery with Rev. Toney Buck officiating. 

Interment under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stigler. Pallbearers:  Kyle Jackson ~ Hugo Toribio ~ Chris Smith~ Phillip Leach ~ Ted Bunn ~ Darryl Colwell Honorary Pallbearers: Santiago Toribio ~ Jacob Colwell ~ Gary Leach ~ Bill Teel
