Elizabeth A Ward
Jul 4, 1836 - Dec 22, 1912
Posted by Lisa Westbrook

3 Jan 1912  "An Old Lady Dead"    Miss Lizzie Ward, aged 76 years, died at the home of her son  J. I. Ward, north of town, Sunday December 22 and buried at Rock Creek Cemetery on Monday, the 23rd by Rev. Peyton, Presbyterian Church, conducting the services.

Mrs. Ward was one of the Pioneers of Greer County having settled  near where Granite now stands 14 years ago.  She has been a widow for 36 years, her husband having passed away in 1876 at the old home in Texas.

Deceased is survived by five daughters and one son.  They are J. L. Ward with whom she made her home for several years.

The above article is a mystery.  Is this Lou Ann Cook, wife of Jesse Ward?  If so he did not die in 1876.  I don't have a son J. J. Ward listed.  This is the area of J. J. Lytle who married Cordelia Ward.

Mesdames J.B. Armstrong and A.W. Saxton of Granite, and three  daughters that live in various parts of Texas.  The funeral was largely attended by friends and relatives of the deceased lady, who was indeed a Mother of Isreal and had many friends of this section as well as her old Texas home.

Card of Thanks.  We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to our many friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our dear mother.  L.J. Ward, wife and relatives.
