Riley, Dorothy M., passed away Sept. 7, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Denison, TX.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006, at Wakita United Methodist Church with the Rev. Derek Belase presiding. Burial will be in Wakita Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Taft, CA to William Thomas “W.T.” and Flora (Hunt) Stuart.
On Dec. 7, 1941, she was united in marriage with Allen Riley. They lived in Wichita, then southwest of Fairview and Longdale, OK before moving to Wakita in 1955. She worked at Guthrie Drug Store and later Phillips Service Station. She also helped on the farm.
Dorothy always found something good to say about others. She lived through life’s hardships with extraordinary strength, character and humor. She will be remembered as always being upbeat and finding something positive from every situation. She was a loving and involved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, “Granny-D”, was devoted to the welfare of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Glen and Don Stuart, and sister, Ruth Pinkerton Davis.
Her strong sweet spirit will be missed by her daughter, Donna Inman and husband Darral, their three children, Stacie and Derek Wrobbel, Krista and Kyle Blaser, Kelli and Ryan Schenk; her son, Tom and wife Donna, their children, Jillian Iley and Steve Daley, Elizabeth and Brock Tourney, and Tom’s son, Scott Riley and wife Christie; her 12 great-grandchildren who called her “Granny D;” her sister, Madge Sparks and husband Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Williams Chapel, 602 East Main Street, Anthony, KS 67003, is in charge of the arrangements.
