Pond Creek Cemetery


Leona Mae Seifert, 101, of Enid, OK, passed away on October 21, 2017, at Golden Oaks.

Leona was born October 15, 1916, to Charles and Lena (Hogsett) Thomas at Florence, Oklahoma. She attended Gore High School in Grant County, Oklahoma, where she graduated as Valedictorian of her class. Leona met and married Cecil W. Seifert, of Pond Creek, Oklahoma. They were married January 1946. After a short honeymoon, they moved to Enid to make it their home. Leona and Cecil were both active members of the First Baptist Church of Enid. Cecil worked and retired from Hackney Iron and Steel Company, and Leona worked for H.A. Marr Candy Co. before changing to work for the J.C. Penny Co. where she retired. They enjoyed traveling when their jobs permitted. They also enjoyed 50 years of marriage in 1996. Leona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil; her parents and two brothers, Richard Lee Thomas, Hobart, Oklahoma, and Jimmie Earl Thomas, Orlando, Florida; nephew, Larry Pearce, Apopka, FL.; niece Joyce Carney, Ponca City, OK.

She is survived by two sisters, Laura Drinkard, Wichita, KS; and Elizabeth Mueller, Altmonte Springs, FL. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, Mr. Delbert Dodson, Knowles, OK; Ms. Betty Cambron, Portland, OR; Betty Ann Hendrix, Tuttle, OK; Joe Thomas, Winter Springs, FL and David Thomas, Winter Springs, FL.

Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the Pond Creek Cemetery, Pond Creek, OK, with Pastor Les Washnock officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Enid, or the chapel fund of Golden Oaks.
