Pond Creek Cemetery


ENID — The funeral for Edward L. Lawrence, 77, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Brown-Cummings Funeral home Chapel. Pastor Dan O’Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery with military graveside service conducted by the Army.

He was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Tulsa to George William and Helen Jackson Lawrence and died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was raised in the Claremore area before moving to Enid, where he went to work as a welder for George E. Failing Co. in 1963. He retired Feb. 27, 1998, as a union welder.

He married Mary Marie Mack Aug. 18, 1956, in Bentonville, Ark. He was a former member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, of the home; one son, Edward Lawrence of Enid; two daughters, Anetta Fox of Meeker and Jaynell Johnson of Enid; one brother, Lee Lawrence of Grove; one sister, Coleen Hess of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid SPCA.

The graveside service celebrating and honoring the life of Mary "Marie" Lawrence,79, Enid, is 1 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017, in the Pond Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Fox officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born to Levi Webster Mack and Etta Leona Thomas on July 24, 1938, at home in Pond Creek and passed from this life on August 21, 2017, in Stillwater.

She was raised and educated in the Pond Creek area, graduating from Pond Creek High School in 1956. She married Edward Lawrence August 18, 1956, in Bentonville Ark. They made their home in Claremore and Tulsa area until May of 1963 when they moved to Enid, OK. She worked as a cook at both St. Mary's and Bass Hospitals, and Woolco as well as Glenwood Elementary cafeteria. She went in late 2016 to live with and be cared for by her daughter.

She is survived by daughters, Annetta and husband Mark Fox of Meeker, and Jaynell Johnson of Enid; son Edward and wife Ronda Lawrence of Enid; eleven grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Edward.
