Manchester – Thelma Hendrick, 68, died Tuesday morning in a Wakita nursing center after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Thursday in the Christian Church at Manchester with the Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, west of Wakita, under direction of Morrison Funeral Service.

The former Thelma Woodring, Mrs. Hendrick was born May 11, 1913, at Manchester and was a resident of that community most of her life. She and Kermit Hendrick were married December 25, 1934, at Manchester, and would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary Friday.

Mrs. Hendrick taught school for four years at Lone Star, near Manchester, and was a member of the Manchester Christian Church, Christian Women's Missionary Society and the Grange.

Survivors include her husband, Kermit; one son, Richard Hendrick, Manchester; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Nelda) Bartell, Manchester, and Mrs. Gavin (Ruth) Pearson, Renton, Washington; two brothers, Murel Woodring, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Raymond Woodring, Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Beatty and Mrs. Bessie Gideon, both of Wichita, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and four great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Community Health Center at Wakita or the Leukemia Society with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
