Sgt James Curtis "Sonny" Botts
August 22, 1944 ~ January 6, 2007


Funeral service for SFC [Retired] James C. "Sonny" Botts, 62, Cement, will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher Chapel with Rev. Tom Brooks, Pastor, Penn West Baptist Church, Holdenville, Oklahoma, officiating.

Sergeant Botts died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery , Southeast of Cement, Oklahoma , under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher, formerly Robbins Funeral Home.

Sergeant Botts was born August 22, 1944 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, to James Richard and Ruby Sarah Botts.

He grew up in the Cement and Cyril area and was a graduate of Cyril High School where he had played football. He later attended college.

He was retired from the U.S. Army in 1982 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, after more than 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and had served for a short time in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Patricia Joann Morse in 1973 at Lawton . He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Sterling; two daughters and sons in law, Amy Rana and Dee Knapp and Kristi Dawn and Jason Conway, all of Marlow; two sons and daughters in law, Billy and Lynia Botts, Rush Springs, and Brian and Elizabeth Ann Botts, Cement; his mother, Ruby Kilgore, Chickasha; three sisters, Nadine Lemon, Edmond, Jewel Welch, Oklahoma City, and Mary Johnson, Chickasha; eight grandchildren, John David Adams, Lauren Marie Dorsey, Zackary Ramond Conway, Austin Manning, Colt Botts, Sierra Botts, J.D. Botts and Brianna Botts.
