Don Ralph Hatzenbuehler

Don Ralph Hatzenbuehler, 76, of Duncan, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, in Duncan Regional Hospital.

Wayne was born Friday, November 20, 1936 in the Star Community, to James Gaddie Gardner and Eula Marie [Cline] Gardner.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Christian Center, with James Miller, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Rush Springs Cemetery West under direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Don was born Oct. 28, 1930, in Byers, Kan., the son of William Joseph and Iva Mae Webster Hatzenbuehler.

He graduated from Byers High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman First Class Petty Officer from 1949 to 1961. During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy Special Forces.

He and Kaye Brewer were married Oct. 16, 1970, in Lewisville, Texas. He retired from General Motors in the Arlington, Texas plant after 30 years of service. After his retirement, he and Kaye moved to Rush Springs and in 2002 they moved to Duncan. He was a member and elder in Christian Center Church and loved teaching the Bible. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and his Miniature Schnauzer dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Kaye of the home in Duncan; three sons, David Lee Hatzenbuehler and his wife Patricia of Silverdale, Wash., Paul "Karl" Wayne Hatzenbuehler of Lewisville, and Alan Daniel Hatzenbuehler of Galveston, Texas; two daughters, Diana Lynn Buchanan and her husband Paul of Galveston, and Shannon Renee Manry and her husband Michael of Garland, Texas; a brother, Bill Hatzenbuehler and his wife Jacque of Big Cabin, Okla.; four sisters, Carmen Weber and her husband Ken of Viola, Kan., Ruth Stratford of Byers, Marcella Renner and her husband Art of Sharon Springs, Kan., and Eloise Jarboe of Pratt, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph. Bearers will be David McCoy, Israel Hatzenbuehler, Paul Hatzenbuehler, Daniel Hatzenbuehler, Joseph Speight, Michael Manry and Tommy Howell.
