James Lee Griffin

Rush Springs: James Lee Griffin, 72, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in Chickasha.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 4, 2011, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs with Rev. Michael Nunn officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

James was born Monday, August 22, 1938 in Hugo, OK, to T. L. Griffin and Lois [Ridge] Griffin. James graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City in 1957. He lived in Chickasha before moving to Rush Springs 18 years ago. He married Patty Currier in Oklahoma City on January 10, 1958. James retired from the Oklahoma City Fire Department after 22 years of service. After his retirement he began farming and raising cattle. He enjoyed riding horses and sitting on his front porch. James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs.

Survivors include, wife, Patty Griffin of the home, two sons, Kevin Griffin of Rush Springs, Shaun Griffin of Rush Springs, 4 grandchildren, Amanda Watt and husband Brandon, Tannor Griffin, Chase Griffin and wife Robyn, Steven Griffin; 2 great grandchildren, Lane Watt and Denton Watt; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents and sister, Louise Latimer.

Pallbearers will be: Brandon Watt, Kevin Griffin, Chase Griffin, Tannor Griffin, Shawn Griffin, Verlon Schmidt.

Honorary pallbearers: Jimmy Williams, Pat Shipman, Tommy Chism, Lee Penick.
