Walter S. Dennis

Marlow - WALTER S. DENNIS, 86, of Marlow, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, in Marlow.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Marlow. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Rush Springs.

Walter was born April 5, 1921, in Lindsay, to Sam Scott Dennis and Daisy Irene Ballard Dennis.

Walter lived in the Rush Springs/Marlow area all of his life. He had lived at his current residence since 1958. He attended school at Cox City.

Walter married Doshie Lena Mason on April 15, 1947 in Henrietta, Texas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Walter was a farmer and had retired from Synergy Gas Company as a truck driver after 40 years of service.

Walter was proud of his land and enjoyed farming, raising cattle and hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed music, but above all, he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Doshie Lena Dennis of the home; three sons, Samuel Roy Dennis of Marlow, Loniell Walter Dennis and wife Dawn of Velma, David Allen Dennis and wife Sharon of Rush Springs; five daughters, Judy Lois Garner and husband Charles, Nora Gene Turpin and husband Rocky, Sally Annette Nichols and husband Kevin, all of Rush Springs, Clara Ann Baker, and Glenda Jeanine Dennis, both of Marlow; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lowell David Dennis of Rush Springs; and two sisters, Rachel June Towe of Tullard, Texas, and Ila Mae Worley of Sulphur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pearl Gaskill; a grandaughter, Terri Renee Hardzog; a daughter-in-law, Sue Dennis; and a son-in-law, Grant Baker.
