Minnie Bell [Jones] McVey

MRS. G. M. McVEY SERVICES HELD AT BAPTIST CHURCH

Funeral service for Mrs. G. M. McVey, pioneer resident, were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at the First Baptist Church, Verden, with Rev. C. W. Taylor officiating, assisted by the pastor, Rev. Kenneth Elkins. Burial was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Donald Brown, Miss Sue Ann Finlay, Mrs. Harry Dodson, and Mrs. C. W. Hamill sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Jack McLane, Jr., sang "Mother Machree." Mrs. I K. Bilbry was pianist.

Nephews were casket bearers: Arthur McVey, Bill McVey, George McVey, and Isaac Bradford, Verden; Bert N. McVey of Anadarko and Hugh McVey, Chickasha.

Minnie Bell Jones was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky, April 17, 1881, and passed away in Verden, Okla., October 1, 1953 at the age of 72 years 5 months and 14 days.

She was united in marriage to Dr. G. M. McVey in Williamsburg, Kentucky and to this union was born two children. They moved to Verden, Okla. in 1906 and have made their home here since that time. She was a member of the Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, and American Legion Auxiliary.

Those left to mourn her departure are her husband, Dr. G. M. McVey; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Woodall, Verden; one son, John A. McVey, Chickasha; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Allen, Emlin, Kentucky; Mrs. Mollie White, Anaheim, Calif.; Mrs. Pearl Bradford, Williamsburg, Kentucky; and Mrs. Geneva Hahn of San Francisco, Calif. Two brothers, Henry Jones of Kentucky and Colt Jons of North Carolina. Also a host of other relatives and friends.
