Benjamin W. Dudley
February 13, 1843 ~ June 8, 1930


Benjamin W. Dudley was born February 13, 1843, in Lincoln county, Missouri and passed away at the home of his son near Geary, Oklahoma June 8, 1930, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 26 days.

When only 18 years of age he joined the Confederate army remaining until the close of the war.

In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Roberts, who passed away in 1874, leaving one daughter.

In 1876 he married Miss Perlina Roberts who passed to her reward in 1916. To this union was born a daughter and son.

He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, Mrs. W. T. Palmore of Verden, Oklahoma, Mrs. E. L. Smith of Joplin, Missouri, and J. C. Dudley of Geary, Oklahoma, 12 grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Dudley moved from Boone county, Missouri to southwest Missouri where he made his home until coming to Caddo county in 1905. He lived on a farm north of Verden for a number of years then he moved to Colorado with his son where he lived a short time coming back they made their home in Verden where his wife passed away. He has made his home with his son for the last few years. His death came as a shock to all as he was only sick a few hours.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. W. Taylor at the First Baptist church of Verden and interment made in the Verden cemetery by the side of his wife. One daughter, Mrs. E. L. Smith of Joplin was unable to come on account of sickness.
