MRS. BYFORD SERVICES HELD AT BAPTIST CHURCH

Services for Mrs. Susie Byford were conducted at 3 p.m., March 28 at the Baptist Church. Rev. C. W. Taylor officiated, assisted by Rev. George W. Gaidaroff, pastor.

Interment was in the Verden Cemetery with the Hansen Funeral Home in charge.

A quartet, Mrs. Donald Brown, Mrs. Harry Dodson, Mrs. C. W. Hamill and Mrs. R. E. Flood sang "Where We⤙ll Never Grow Old." "In The Garden and "Have Thine Own Way." Mrs. I. H. Bilbrey accompanied them.

Active casket bearers were R. C. Harris, Darrell Self, Jess Phipps, and Morris Hill, all of Chickasha and Luther Reed and Arthur McVey, Verden. Honorary bearers were Herschel Frazer, George Davidson and Jimmie Hopkins, Chickasha and Roy Boevers, J. N. Kern and O. W. Hamill, Verden.

Mrs. Susie Byford was born in Montague, Texas, December 4, 1872 and passed away in Chickasha March 27, 1951 at the age of 78 years, three months, and 23 days.

She was united in marriage to Joseph W. Byford in Montague, Texas, July 3, 1893 and to this union was born nine children, two having preceded her in death.

They moved from Texas to Oklahoma in 1901. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Verden.

Mr. Byford died July 24, 1939.

Those left to mourn her departure are two daughters, Mrs. Ada Mae Dimpfl and Mrs. Dovie Margaret Davis, both of Chickasha; five sons, Luther, Clarence and Floyd of Chickasha and Woodrow and Howard of Bakersfield, California; one brother, Otha Ellis of Arcadia, California, 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Luther Luke Byford
August 27, 1937 ~ June 12, 2020


Funeral services for Luther Byford, 82, of Chickasha, will be held at the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Luke married Helen Howard and had three children: Gayla and spouse Steve Davis, Michael and spouse Kay, and Deanne and spouse David Ballard.

Then he married Alzoria Leatherwood and had three step-children: Kim and spouse John Valerius, Timothy “Popeye” Leatherwood, and Dedra and spouse Bobby McMullen.

There is multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren and lots of extended family and friends: His buddy Shane; his sister Marg and spouse Paul Bern; his best friend ever Chick; his great neighbor Maria.

“Thank you all for the time you spent in my life.”

Interment will be in Verden Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.br>
