Loretta Joy [Romines] Williams

Loretta Joy Williams, 84, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at her home in Marlow.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the Southern Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Phipps officiating. Burial will follow in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Loretta was born Wednesday, May 31, 1933 in Laverty, to Wallace and Mertle May [Woods] Romines.

She grew up in the Chickasha area and graduated from Chickasha High School. After graduation, she married the love of her life, Jimmy C. Williams in Chickasha on July 28, 1951.

She and Jimmy made their home in Meridian for 17 years, Rush Springs for 45 years and Marlow for the past 2 years.

Always an active woman, Loretta was very involved in many philanthropic organizations including the Monarch Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and even worked as a tour guide for Kencaid Travel Service for a time. She was very creative and could often be found quilting or sewing or being involved in many other crafts. In addition to her craftwork, Loretta expressed herself through poetry and wrote many poems and had several of them published. She played Scrabble and worked crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp and could often be found reading her Bible, which was one of her favorite pastimes.

She was very active in the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, of which she was a long time member, and taught the Harmony Sunday School Class for over 35 years. Even with all of her activities, Loretta never forgot her family. She was a fabulous cook and baked many wonderful things and more than anything, she cherished spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Loretta was a beautiful woman both inside and out and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents Loretta was preceded in death by: 2 daughters, Beth Ann Williams and Rhonda Keenan; son, Danny Ray Williams; sister, Bernice Lang; 3 brothers, Kenneth Romines, Larry Romines, Donald Romines; and also her Mother and father-in-law; Verdie and Floyd Williams.
