Gaines Thomas "Tom" Parks

G. T. Parks of Ninnekah Dies

Gaines Thomas Parks, Route 1, Ninnekah, died at 7:30 am today in his home as a result of a heart attack.

Mr. Parks was 54 years old at the time of his death, having been born in March, 1894, at Arthur, OK. He had been a resident of the Chitwood Community near Alex for the past 25 years, and formerly lived east of Marlow at Owens Prairie. He had been in ill health for the past four months.

Survivors include his wife, Faye, two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Dunn of Chickasha, and Mrs. Wynona Cofer of Bradley; one son, G. T. Jr. of the home address; four brothers, Wood, of Marlow, Charlie, Joe and Vess, all of Duncan, and Bob of Oakland, Calif., one sister, Mrs. May Blackwell of Salinas, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Chickasha Funeral Home.

Gaines Thomas "Tom" Parks

Rev. John P. King, pastor of the Methodist Church in Alex, conducted services in the church for Gaines Thomas Parks at 2 pm Friday.

Mr. Parks died early Monday at his home in the Chitwood community near Alex. He had been a resident of the community for more than 20 years.

Active pallbearers were Charlie Holder, Charlie White, Durwood Bray, Forrest Bray, M. C. Phillips and Alvie Tims. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Simmons, Harry Holder, G. Stucks, Zera Starkey, J. R. Jones, J. P. Frick, Dee Robertson and Calvin McLemore.

The songs, "In the Garden," "Farther Along" and "Precious Memories," were sung by Mrs. A. P. Williams Jr., Mrs. Dave Timberlake, Mrs. Dial Baker, Mrs. Reford Foster, Mrs. Morris Horne, Jodie Johnston, Douglas Addy and L. E. Sloan. Mrs. Douglas Addy accompanied the group.

Flower girls were Mrs. Dorse Manning, Miss Johnne Godwin, Mrs. Corene Boatwright, Mrs. Mattie Holder, Miss Louise Cole, Miss Reba Godwin and Miss Helen Godwin.

Interment was in the Rush Spring Cemetery.

MRS. OLLIE FAYE PARKS

Mrs. Ollie Faye Parks, 68, Alex, died this morning in Grady Memorial Hospital after suffering a sudden heart attack. She had been hospitalized for the past eight days.

Mrs. Parks was born Jan. 14, 1901, in Doyle and had resided in the Chitwood-Alex area vicinity since 1924. She formerly lived in Stephens County.

She was married in 1920, in Doyle, to Gaines Thomas Parks, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1949.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Alex.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Sevier's Funeral Home.

Alice Fay "Ollie Fay" [Robinson] Parks

Funeral services for Mrs. Ollie Fay Parks, who died Tuesday of a sudden heart attack in Grady Memorial Hospital following an eight day illness, will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the United Methodist Church at Alex with Rev. Cass Hill and Rev. Charles Wallace officiating.

She is survived by one son, G. T. Parks, Alex; two daughters, Mrs. Wynona Cofer, Alex, and Mrs. Wanda Henderson, Woodward; two half brothers, Calvin Robinson, Salinas, Calif., and Buster Robinson, Duncan; two sisters, Mrs. Alex Sage, Marlow, Mrs. Bird Harrell, Gainesville, Tex; four half sisters, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home.

Garland "G. T." Parks
September 19, 1921 ~ April 8, 2011


Funeral services for Garland "G.T." Parks will be 10:30 a.m. at the Westside Church of Christ Church in Alex, Ok. on Monday, April 11, 2011.

Garland "G.T." Parks was born in Stephens County on September 19, 1921 to Tom and Fay [Robinson] Parks. He passed away at his home in Alex on Friday, April 08, 2011 at the age of 89.

G.T. worked with the CCC Camp at Rush Springs. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy with the Messenger Center.

He married Mary Ruth Bray on September 14, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was on the Soil Conversation Board for many years. G.T. farmed and ranched in the Chitwood-Alex area for 53 years. G.T. was an avid OU women's basketball fan. He was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Alex, OK.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wanda Henderson.

G.T. is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Parks, of Alex, OK, Sister - Wynonna Cofer of Alex, OK, and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, OK.

Mary Ruth [Bray] Parks

Funeral services for Mary Ruth Parks will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2017 at Alex Westside Church of Christ.

Mary Ruth Parks, of Alex, Oklahoma was born March 17, 1926 in Rush Springs, OK. She passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at her home Alex, at the age of 91.

Mary taught school for 2 years at Pea Ridge and she and her husband farmed in the Alex area for over 50 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Alex Westside Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband Garland “G.T.” Parks on April 8, 2011.

Mary Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
