John Fitzpatrick
August 23, 1863 ~ 1929


Alex Tribune, Alex, Grady Co., OK, January 18, 1929: "Mr. Fitzpatrick Very Ill - Mr. John Fitzpatrick who has been lying at the point of death with pneumonia and other complications is still very low, but this Thursday morning, he is reported to be a tiny bit better.

He has been unconscious the greater part of the week and does not know that his wife passed away last Friday.

The following relatives from out of town at his bedside are: his brother, Buck Fitzpatrick and family from Rush Springs; his nephew Bob Fitzpatrick, who lives south of Alex. His sister-in-law, Mrs. May Fitzpatrick, and a nephew Sam Brooks of Chickasha. His daughter, Mrs. J. H. Harris south of Alex is also with him much of the time as well as Mrs. Fitzpatrick's daughter and other relatives."

Funeral service for Mrs. Effie Mae Fitzpatrick, 86, Rush Springs, will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 11, 1981, in the Rush Springs Church of Christ with Raymond Murray officiating.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick died early this morning, August 10, 1981, in a Marlow hospital.

She was born on July 26, 1895, in Sherman, Texas, and lived in Rush Springs most of her life.

She married Jim Fitzpatrick on November 3, 1912, in Rush Springs. Mr. Fitzpatrick preceded her in death on January 5, 1976.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one sister, Helen Dykes, Chickasha; four brothers, John Cook, Oklahoma City, Leverett Cook, Holdenville, Harmon Cook, Merced, Calif., and Allen Cook, Healdsburgh, Calif.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Violet Beatrice Elizabeth Hale Fitzpatrick, 92, of Rush Springs passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2006, in Marlow.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the old Rush Springs Cemetery in Rush Springs, with David Hale officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore.

Violet was born on December 1, 1913, in the Old Trail school district in Grady County to Hugh and Mattie Hale. She was the youngest of the seven Hale children. Violet married Sell Edward "Si Buck" Fitzpatrick on June 10, 1931. They made their home in Rush Springs, where they owned and operated the Hi-Way Café for 20 years.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lilly Acrey; five brothers, Jess Hale, Olie Hale, Arthur Hale, Buck Hale and Cat Hale; her first husband, Si Buck Fitzpatrick; a son, Jerald Glen Fitzpatrick; and a second husband, Roy Lee Mason.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward Fitzpatrick, and Rick and Beth Fitzpatrick, all of Rush Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Leon Burges of Rush Springs; and 11 grandchildren.

Lillian [Bonner] Fitzpatrick
September 12, 1923 ~ October 21, 2009


Oklahoma City: Lillian Fitzpatrick, 86, former Rush Springs resident, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 23, 2009, at the Rush Springs Cemetery, with David Hale officiating. Services under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.

Lillian was born Wednesday, September 12, 1923 in Marlow, to Ernest Eugene Bonner and Stella Beatrice [Flanery] Bonner. Lillian lived in this area most of her life and in Rush Springs for the past twenty years. Lillian married Leonard Bob Fitzpatrick on May 8, 1943 in Marlow, he preceded her in death on October 3, 2005. Lillian enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. Pink roses were her favorite to grow. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping in California. They began camping without a tent, moved up to a pull camper and finally traveled in a motor home.

Survivors include, Sister, Ronna McMasters and husband Phil of Oklahoma City, 2 Nieces, Renee' McWaters of Oklahoma City, Patricia Renwick of Beaumont, CA, Great-Nephew, Chad Renwick of Beaumont, CA, Great great nephew, Dillon Renwick of Beaumont, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Juanita Hays.

Hugh Edward Fitzpatrick
July 5, 1937 ~ March 13, 2012


Funeral services will be held for Hugh `Edward' Fitzpatrick, 74, of Rush Springs at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs.

Hugh `Edward' Fitzpatrick was born in Rush Springs on July 5, 1937, the oldest son of Sell and Violet [Hale] Fitzpatrick. He died on Monday, March 12, 2012, at home in Rush Springs.

Edward lived all his life in Grady County around Rush Springs. He went to school at Acme and Rush Springs Public Schools where he was known as "Big Ed" by special friends. Ed's first job was cutting broomcorn, hauling hay and plowing for area farmers.

He married LaRita Heard on November 3, 1957. He started farming on his own and raising cattle and goats. He raised peanuts and watermelon and was known for his `Black Diamond Watermelon.' Ed started driving a truck at the age of 24 for Hi-Vi. He later drove for different companies around Rush Springs. He loved his time spent driving trucks and retired from that line of work. After retirement, his favorite hobby was going down to the coffee shop. Ed was a good friend and always ready to help if anyone needed it. He was a member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: both parents; wife, LaRita Fitzpatrick; brother, Gerald Fitzpatrick; and brother-in-law, Leon Burgess.

Survivors include son, Jerry Fitzpatrick & wife Tina and their sons, Cody and Zachery; son, Michael Fitzpatrick & wife Kerri and their sons, Kent, Tim and Adam; daughter, Deborah Godfrey & husband Mike and their children, Angel, Sara, Amber and Mikey; sister, Karen Burgess of Edmond; brother, Rick Fitzpatrick & wife Beth of Rush Springs; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many life-long friends. He is also survived by a very special friend, Lovie Chatham and her family which became his second family, and all his friends from Midway Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Rush Springs Westview Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
