Andrews, 621, Chickasha, a former city resident, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Sevier Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. He died Saturday at his home. Andrews had lived in Oklahoma 46 years and was a motel owner and operator. Survivors include his wife, Elmina; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Mercer, Little Rock, Ark.; and Mrs. Judy Bookout, Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, A. D. and W. E.; both of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. Erline Simmons, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Edna M. Atkinson, Texarkana, Ark.; and Mrs. Jewel Carter, Vinita; and his mother, Mrs. J. D. Andrews,84, of El Reno will be Thursday, Feb 1 at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in El Reno, with Revs. Marsha Bishop and C. Reese Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, with full military honors. Carl Andrews was born June 30, 1905 at Henderson, Kentucky and died Monday, Jan 29 at Parkview Hospital in El Reno following a short illness. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri at a young age and also lived in Oklahoma City and Alex before moving to El Reno in 1978. Carl Andrews retired in 1957 as a captain from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII, serving in Germany and Greece and the Korean Conflict. He also retired from the Civil Service. He was a member of and served as Deacon Emeritus at First Christian Church of El Reno. He was a Master Mason, a member of the India Shrine Temple Greeters and a member of the El Reno Elks Lodge No. 743. Survivors include his wife, Ila Ogle Andrews of the home; one brother, Walter Andrews of Dumfries, Virginia; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Elsman and Mrs. Marge Williams both of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mrs. Eula Ballinger of Denver, Co. |
© The Chickasha Express-Star Chickasha, Oklahoma 27 Monday, 16 February 2009 ~ Wednesday, 19 February 2009 Ila Belle [Ogle] Andrews Funeral services for Ila Belle Andrews of El Reno were held Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at the First Christian Church in El Reno, with the Rev. Ronnie Fields officiating. Ila died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Parkview Hospital in El Reno. The youngest of five children, she was born Aug. 3, 1916, in Tabler, Grady County, Okla., to Richard M. and Alice Hurd Ogle. After graduating from Friend School, she joined the Women's Army Corps during World War II. She met her future husband, Carl W. Andrews, an Army careerist, who was her basketball coach in the Army. After their marriage, the Army took the couple to many places around the world. They lived in Greece, Germany, California, New Jersey, New York and Texas. In later years, Ila and Carl were house parents at the American Legion Boys Home in Ponca City. Ila was employed as a teller and new accounts officer with Fidelity Bank in Oklahoma City. She retired in 1978 when she was 62. Ila moved to El Reno 30 years ago. A sports enthusiast, she was an avid golfer and continued to enjoy an active life in many areas of the community. She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, the Republican Women's Club and Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl, sisters, Rebecca Cavin and Mary Cropp, a brother, Mack Lee Ogle, a niece, Sue Handley and a nephew, Joey Johnson Jr. Ila is survived by sister, Lillie Johnson, age 102, of Alex, beloved nieces Judy Hamby and her husband, Tom of El Reno, Jamie Colwell and husband, Keith of Dallas, Texas, Willena Brown and husband, Walter of Dallas, Phyllis Cornelius and husband, Guy of Amarillo, Texas, Jo Ann Gossman and husband, Bruce of Van Buren, Ark., and Jan Story of Alex. Also, nephews, Richard Ogle and wife, Vonna of Fletcher, Richard Johnson and wife, Renee of Alex, James Johnson and wife, Donna of Chickasha and many great nieces and nephews.Ila had a special friend, the late Carlos Weaver of El Reno. She was fortunate to have the support of Carlos and his family who were loving and caring in so many ways. If you had known Ila, you would have heard her say many times, "No one could be happier than I have been. My life has been so wonderful." The family suggests memorials may be made in Ila's name to First Christian Church, Mobile Meals or Russell-Murray Hospice. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha. Services were under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. |

Graveside services 1 p.m. Thursday, Rose Hill Cemetery, Sevier's Chickasha, Chickasha. Mary Janette Glass was born November 12, 1931 in Oklahoma City, OK to Hoyt and Martha Elmina [McFarland] Andrews. She passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 83. Mrs. Glass graduated from Chickasha High School in 1950. She worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance as a secretary until her retirement. She married Troy Glass. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Troy Glass; and a daughter, Kathern Louise Mercer. Mrs. Glass is survived by 2 daughters: Martha Young and her husband, Charlie, of Oklahoma City, OK Sharon Weaver of Chickasha, OK. A son, Billy Mercer of Yukon, OK |
