Ervy Zeiset

Ervy Zeiset was born on August 26, 1922, in Grady County, Oklahoma, to Nathaniel and Hannah Schmidt Zeiset. He peacefully passed away on March 4, 2012, at Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kansas, with his youngest sister, Johanna Toews, at his side. He reached the age of eighty-nine years.

Together with his parents and brothers and sisters, Ervy spent his boyhood years on the family farm in the Verden, Oklahoma community.

At the age of seventeen years, Ervy responded to the Lord's call and was born again. Upon the confession of his faith, he was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by Min. John A. Koehn on Decemer 18, 1939. Ervy was often tossed about with the battles of life and was not always victorious. However, in later years he consecrated his life anew and was able to remain faithful to the Lord and the Church until his end.

Ervy loved nature and the outdoors. This was reflected in his many years of farming and tending livestock. His love of people won him many friends. He had a soft and compassionate heart and shared freely of his possessions with others.

For many years, he lived alone on the old home place. As his health began to decline he went to live with his niece Carolyn and husband, Roger Schmidt. After four and one-half years with them, he entered the Moundridge Manor on September 16, 2009. He was so thankful for the care he received there and expressed it once again the evening before he could no longer speak. On February 19, 2012 he suffered a stroke from which he didn't recover. We believe Ervy is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Those left to mourn are two brothers, John and wife Inez, and Nathan, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; three sisters: Mary Rempel, Steinbach, Manitoba; Nina Koehn, Moundridge, Kansas; and Johanna and husband Franklin Toews, Moundridge, Kansas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

His parents, two brothers, three sisters, and two brothers-in-law preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on March 8, 2012, at the Plainview Mennonite Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Min. Robert Schmidt and Min. Leonard Koehn officiated.

Burial was in the Plainview Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma
