Maurine [Kohen] Base

Maurine Base, 92, a resident of Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma, was called home by the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2007 in Corn after a lengthy illness.

Maurine was born March 14, 1915 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Jonas and Amanda [Schmidt] Koehn.

She married Joe Base on December 18, 1936 in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Base farmed and was homemaker.

She was a long time resident of Anadarko/Chickasha area She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She was a very good pastry maker and always had the cookie jar full for family and friends.

Maurine was a very kind and compassionate lady. She had made a profession of her faith in Christ and was baptized into the Mennonite Church. Maurine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include: Daughter, Shirlann Smith and husband, Robert of Anadarko, Oklahoma; Son, Douglas J. Base and wife, Niki of Anadarko, Oklahoma; Granddaughter, Jenny Bendure and husband, Michael of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Grandson, Shaun Base of Anadarko, Oklahoma; Great-granddaughter, Sophia M. Bendure of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Three step-grandchildren: Jeffery Smith, Darryl Smith and Shelly Conran; Three step-great-grandsons: Joshua Smith, Craig Smith, Nathan Smith; One step-great-grandaughter: Shannon Owings; Two brothers: Claude Koehn & wife, Dixie of Galva, Kansas; Vernon Koehn and wife, Jean of Galva, Kansas; One sister, Della Jantz of Foley, Alabama.

Maurine is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Leo and Melvin; three sisters: Maggie Unruh; Lenora Koehn and Lydia Andress and an infant daughter, Joan Base.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Plainview Mennonite Church, Verden, Oklahoma. Robert Schmidt will be officiating.

Burial to follow in the Plainview Cemetery, Verden, Oklahoma under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Wanda Sue [Johnson] Base

Funeral services for Wanda Sue Base, 67, of Chickasha, OK will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Plainview Mennonite Church.

Wanda Sue Base went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 as a result of an auto accident in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on April 29, 1948 to J.C. and Dorothy [Harris] Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of Chickasha.

Sue's life began the day she married her true love, Steven R. Base on February 19, 1965. She enjoyed driving her handicapped bus for Chickasha Public School and then working for her sister at Mama Carols. She most enjoyed the time she spent watching her children, grandchildren and great grandson. You could always find Sue at any of her children and grandchildren's activities, especially her "Favorite Son."

She loved dragging her grandchildren to garage sales early on Saturdays. Lately she enjoyed spending time with her great grandson, Blake, which was the highlight of her life. She loved making people laugh and having a fun time. Everyone loved her and her "Wanda-isms" - anyone that knows Sue understands.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Johnson; sister, Judy Johnson; and niece, Lisa LeAnn Smith.

Survivors include husband, Steven R. Base of the home, daughters: Cheryl Urban and Keith, of Chickasha, OK, Tamara Smith and Scott, of DeRidder, LA; son, Steven L. Base and Kris, of Apache, OK, grandchildren: Brooke Smith and Colt, of Rush Springs, OK, Krista Urban of Chickasha, OK, Kylie, Brandy and Preston Smith of DeRidder, LA; Tatum and Teagan Base of Apache, OK, and a "precious" great grandson, Aaron Blake Smith of Rush Springs, 6 sisters and 1 brother.

Interment will be at the Plainview Mennonite Church Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
