Emma "Jean" [Hamm] Gregory

Graveside services for Emma Jean Gregory, 82, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2006, in the Ninnekah Cemetery, with Bob Craddock officiating.

Emma Jean Gregory was born February 8, 1924, in Anna, Texas, the daughter of James and Georgia [Duggan] Hamm. She died September 5, 2006, in Chickasha.

She grew up in Texas, and graduated from McKinney High School in 1941. She recently attended her 65th high school class reunion.

Jean married Zeno "Bud" Gregory on December 1, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. This union blessed them with five children: JoAnn, Don, Glen, Carlene, and Steve. They had 45 wonderful years together before Bud preceded her in death in 1988.

She was an Avon District Manager for 22 years.. Upon retirement, she and Bud Spent many years traveling across the United States, often taking her sister, Joy and brother-in-law, Carl Short with them. They especially enjoyed Las Vegas, Bull Head City, and Colorado.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, watching country western music, a few soap operas, and the news.

Last year Jean, daughters, JoAnn and Carlene, and sister Evelyn attended her ancestral Duggan family reunion, held in Sevierville, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Bud; one granddaughter, Lindsey Loveless; and son-in-law, Arthur "Buck" Barker.

Survivors include: two daughters and son-in-law; JoAnn and Eddie Nye, of Ninnekah; and Carlene Barker, of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; three sons and daughters-in-law; Don and Patsy Gregory, of Ninnekah; Glen and Judy Gregory, of Norman; and Steve and Vickie Gregory, of Newalla; two sisters: Joy Short, of McKinney, Texas and Evelyn Arwood, of Kingsport, Tennessee; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; six nephews; and one niece.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
