Lester D. Gilliam

Memorial Services for Lester D. Gilliam, 69, of Chickasha will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Ninnekah Cemetery in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

Lester D. Gilliam was born January 20, 1940 in Tahoka, Texas, the son of Emory Clinton Gilliam and Lena Elsie Scillian Gilliam. He died Friday, March 6, 2009 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Lester attended Three-Way School in Texas.

He married Sue Johnson on July 13, 1961 in Adrian, Texas.

He was employed with Rock Island Railway for 19 1/2 years. After retirement, he was employed for 12 years as an Oklahoma State Railroad Track Inspector.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4070, Chickasha Elks Lodge, and the Grady County and Friend OHCE groups.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building model railroads, watching Sue and Diana bowl, and working at the Grady County Fair.

Lester is preceded in death by both parents, and brothers Jimmy and Jerry Gilliam.

Survivors include: Sue Gilliam of the home; daughter and son-in-law Diana (Gootus) and Gary McAtee; granddaughter and husband; Brandy and Oran Brewer and granddaughter Niki McAtee, grandson: Marcus Lawson, great grandsons Andrew Gonzales and Aidan Herron; brothers and spouses; twin brother Vester Lee Gilliam and friend Sharon, Gilbert and Bobbie Gilliam, Wayne and Betty Gilliam, Carton and Cleta Gilliam and Dean and Kathy Gilliam; sister and spouse; Linda and Doyle Butler; brother-in-law, Cotton Johnson; niece and spouse Pam and Kevin Booker, nephew and spouse Rex and Donna Johnson; and many special friends.

Memorial Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home/Memorial contributions can be made to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4070, Heart Fund Charity, or the Grady County 4-H group.
