Cecil Lawrence Wright
April 23, 1934 ~ June 24, 2014


Funeral service for Cecil L. Wright, of Velma, will be 1 p.m., Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Cox City Baptist Church, Cox City.

Cecil Lawrence Wright was born April 23, 1934 in rural Grady County, Oklahoma to Henry E. and Nancy Ora [Eslick] Wright. He passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in Velma, at the age of 80.

Cecil married Peggy Harden on October 14, 1953 and to this union six sons were born.

Later, Cecil married Teri Matthews on January 11, 1983 in Gainesville, Texas and two sons were born to this marriage.

He spent his school days at Cox City and graduated from Cox City High School in 1952. He lived and worked in New Mexico in his younger years, but most of his life was spent in Grady Co. He moved to Velma in 2008.

Cecil worked in the broomcorn fields from an early age thru his early teen years. Breaking into the oil patch in his late teens, early twenties. He worked every position on a drilling rig and for many companies. He was a driller and tool pusher for many of those years, before retiring in 2005 he was a superintendent and consultant.

Upon his retirement he made his home in Bridge Creek, but moved back to Velma to be closer to family when his health began to fail.

Cecil loved to garden, raising lots of vegetables and canning as long as his health allowed. Dancing was another hobby he enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; two sons, Thomas Roy and Ricky Dean; and a sister, Faye Belben.

Interment will be in the Kilgore Cemetery, Cox City, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.

Graveside services for Peggy Joyce Wright, 71, of Blanchard, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Kilgore Cemetery in Cox City, Okla. Bill Hardin will officiate.

Peggy Joyce Wright was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Ranger, Texas, and died on Monday, March 29, 2004, in Blanchard.

Services are under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Marlow, Okla

March 14, 1952 ~ May 22, 2013


Sandra Jo "Sandy" Wright of Blanchard, Oklahoma passed from this life on May 22, 2013 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma with her family and friends at the age of 61.

Sandy was born on March 14, 1952 to Marie and Harvey Swinford and later in life became the daughter of Dempsey Holman. She was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Sandy had lived in Lindsay and the surrounding area all of her life.

She was a hair stylist for many years and a foster parent.

She loved being around her family, camping, fishing, boating and going to auctions.

She was head of the Henry Reunion for many years and couldn't wait every year for it so she could be with her family. She enjoyed being with her sisters and family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Tina Ray and fianceé Ronny Bigwhip, son, Shane Miles, granddaughters: Nocona Ray and Janet Ray and grandson, Tony Collier. She is also survived by her great-granddaughters, Tianndra Ray and Ciera Ray, her husband Dewayne Goleman, brother, Robert and Helen Swinford, sisters: Dana and Curtis Morton, Sheila Morris and Steve Graetas, Patricia and Butch Cunningham, Jean and Gerald Vaughn, Diana and Ron Switzer, Linda and Sam Fuller and special best friend and adopted sister of 23 years, Karen Johnston and all of Karen?s children to whom she was Godmother as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunt.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Swinford, mother, Marie Holman and father, Dempsey Holman, husband, Ricky Wright and mother-in-law, Peggy Wright, two sisters, Barbara Payne and Lyn Holman and one brother, Dempsey Jr. Holman.

Funeral services are set for two-thirty p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Assembly of God Church, located on highway 19 West in Maysville, Oklahoma with Bro. Billy Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Kilgore Cemetery in Cox City, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
