Bobbie Joe "Bob" Vermillion
November 29, 1930 ~ January 8, 2010

Bobbie Joe Vermillion, 79, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Bob was born on November 29, 1930 in Clinton, OK, to F.E. and Elsie Marie Vermillion.

Bob attended school in Chickasha and then the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. He played football at the University of Florida and at the University of Louisville.

Returning to Chickasha, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Jo Peacock "Babe," on December 31, 1952. They lived in Chickasha, where he worked with his father in the family's plumbing and heating contracting business.

Bob and Bonnie moved to Edmond in 1968.

Bob founded and owned A.M.E., Inc., manufacturer's representatives in the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning industry, where his brother Rick joined him in 1971.

Bob had a great sense of humor, and a love of sports, particularly college football. He was committed to his friends, to his profession, and to his colleagues in the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers. He was past President of the Central Chapter and a regional leader involved in many committees and projects of A.S.H.R.A.E.

Bob was a loyal and active as an alumnus of MMA. He also loved buying and selling art, enjoying many trips to Santa Fe, NM.

Bob loved and was devoted to Bonnie, his beautiful wife of 57 years. Bob was also a loving son, brother, and uncle. All his siblings and his nieces and nephews looked to him as a steady source of love, patience, and guidance, and he was always ready to help. He was never far from his youngest nieces, Anne and Susan Vermillion, who grew up in Edmond and helped all of us to think of him as "Uncle Bob."

Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father, by his sister, Ila Marie Vermillion Kunau, by his niece Kathryn Kunau, and by his great-nephew Zachary Jones.

He is survived by his sisters Betty Jean Vermillion Adams of Dallas, TX, and Kathryn Virginia Vermillion Browne of Denver, CO, and her husband Ted; and by his brother Rick Vermillion and his wife Sarah. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews: James Kunau, of Anaheim Hills, CA, and his wife, Betsy; James Adams, of Dallas, TX, and his wife Kathy and children Spencer and Mallory Adams; Sara Adams Tsuboi of Palo Alto, CA, and her husband, Ken; Tamra Browne of San Francisco, CA; Kristen Browne, of Santa Barbara, CA; Julia Kunau Jones of Laguna Beach, CA; Elizabeth Kunau Rolls, of Pflugerville, TX; Anne Vermillion, of Edmond, OK; and Susan Vermillion of Dallas, TX.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 11th, at Smith Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 May Ave in OKC.

Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, OK.

In lieu of flowers, Bonnie and the family request that contributions be made ASHRAE Research, c/o Central OK Chapter, PO Box 18269, OKC, OK 73154.
