Roger Edward McMasters
May 1, 1933 ~ November 14, 2010


CHICKASHA - Roger Edward McMasters, 77, went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2010.

He was born May 1, 1933, in Tabler, Grady County, Okla. to Mary Geneva [Massey] and Carrol Edward McMasters.

He attended Lucile School through 8th grade and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1951. After attending Oklahoma A&M College for a year, Roger attended Oklahoma College for Women [now USAO] during the first year local young men were allowed to attend.

In 1954, Roger married Wanda Barrett, and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past October.

In 1959, Roger and Wanda moved from Chickasha to OKC where Roger began his 36 year career with Fred Jones Mfg. Co.

In 1964, their daughter Kimberly Kaye was born, the light of Roger's eye.

Roger is survived by his wife, Wanda McMasters; daughter, Kim Thomas and her husband, Paul Thomas; brother, Dennis McMasters & his wife, Jo Ann of Little Rock, Ark.; and many other loving family members, church family, and work family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pally Wooldridge; and brother, Dean McMasters.

Roger has been a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church since 1972 and served as a Deacon Emeritus and Sunday School Teacher for both children and adult classes.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Baptist Children's Home, 16301 S. Western Ave, OKC, OK 73170, would be appreciated.

Viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Vondel Smith Mortuary. S. Western Ave. Services to celebrate his life are 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Penn.

Following the church services, graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Friends may leave condolences at www.vondelsmithmortuary.com Services directed by Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary/South.
