Helen B. [Cook] Dykes
October 31, 1918 ~ June 28, 2006


A service celebrating the life of Helen B. Dykes, age 87 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2006, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel, Jim Sheerer will officiate.

Helen was born the daughter of W. A. Cook and Myrtle Wright Cook on October 31, 1918, at Rush Springs, Oklahoma, and joined her loved ones in heaven on June 28, 2006.

Helen graduated from high school in Rush Springs and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She married Paul Dykes on October 19, 1945 in Bakersfield, California.

Helen worked 11 years for Montgomery Wards and retired after 23 years with Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Helen was a past member of the Rebecca Lodge #1 and American Business Women Association. She bowled in the Johnston Motor bowling league for 10 years.

Helen was preceded in death by her father and mother, sister, and five brothers. She will join Paul Dykes, the love of her life, who went to heaven on December 27, 1983.

Survivors include: son: Kendall Dykes of Broken Arrow; son & daughter-in-law: Paul & Reta Dykes of Bethany; sister-in-law: Thelma Cook of Alex; grandchildren: Kendy, Karen, Kendall Junior, Todd & Lane; fourteen great grandchldren; several nieces & nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
