June 3, 1917 ~ July 5, 2005


Funeral service for Kathryn "Pearl" Durham, 88, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2005 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Kathryn `Pearl' Durham was born June 3, 1917 in Alfalfa, Oklahoma, one of nine children born to Charles and Emma Graham. She died July 5, 2005 in Chickasha.

Pearl married Alton Miller in 1934. To this union five girls were born. Alton preceded her in death in 1943.

She married George Simpson in 1948, and they lived in Marlow and Carnegie until his death in 1950.

Pearl then moved to Chickasha in 1951 where she was employed at the White Dot Café, the San Man Restaurant, and the Chickasha Hotel Coffee Shop.

Pearl married Robert Durham in 1958, and they lived in Libya where Bob was employed with Marathon Oil Company. They returned to Chickasha in 1965. Bob preceded her in death in 1977.

Pearl then worked at the Chickasha Golf and Country Club until she retired in 1980.

She was a thirty-year member of the Chickasha Order of the Eastern Star. She loved crafts such as sewing and crochet. Pearl was an avid gardener and took great pride in her lawn and flowers, but her life was cooking for her family as long as she was able.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, two sisters; two daughters, Louise Smith in 1993 and Kay Powell in 1998; and one granddaughter, Darla Hoake Bush in 1976.

Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Hooper and husband Al of Cement, Reta Bush of Chickasha, and Helen Hall and husband Duane of Verden; grandchildren, Al and Arlene Hooper, Jr. of Chickasha, Vaughn and Susie Hooper of Florida, Kathy VanDyck of Chickasha, Drs. Nocoma and Cornel Pewewardy of Lawrence, KS, Deborah and Dennis Plunkett of Lawton, Kimberly and Rick Walker of Enid, Robert Hall of Oklahoma City, Shannon and Kyle Richardson of Chickasha, Arva Smith of Norman, Dixie and Paul Cooper of Oklahoma City, and Robert Powell of Oklahoma City; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
