Funeral services for Kenneth E. Crump Sr., 73, of Norman, formerly of Chickasha, will be held Monday, October 22, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Barbara Hunt officiating and Reverend Jeff Wisner, of Hutchinson, Kansas, assisting.

Kenneth E. Crump was born December 29, 1927, at Tabler, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph Deward Crump and Leona Bazar Crump. He died Thursday, October 18, 2001, in Norman, Oklahoma.

Kenneth graduated from Pocasset High School in 1945 and attended Oklahoma University for three years majoring in business administration. He was a member of Theta XI Fraternity. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Kenneth married Janice Arlene Elliott on November 26, 1952, in Apache, Oklahoma. Two children, Kenneth Eugene Crump Jr. and Kathy Lynn Crump were born to this union. Except for the last year when they have lived in Norman, Oklahoma, they made their home in Apache or Chickasha during the almost 49 years they were married.

His work experience consisted of being general manager for Elliott's Department Store of Apache, a life insurance salesman for National Foundation Life Insurance Company of Oklahoma City, owner of Crump's Store for Men in Chickasha, crude oil buyer for ARCO Petroleum Products, oil and gas lease buyer for J.D. Simmons Inc., Oklahoma City, carpenter for Davidson Construction, and self-employed remodeling contractor before retirement.

Kenneth was an active member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was past member of Chickasha Elks Lodge, Chickasha United Fund Chairman, Chickasha Industrial Trust Member, secretary of Apache Rotary Club, president for four years of Apache Free Fair Board, and president for four years of Apache Chamber of Commerce. He served 18 years on the Apache Voluntary Fire Department, was a member of Apache Lions Club, chairman of Administrative Board and past member of First United Methodist Church, Apache, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother Bill;brothers-in-law Austin Davidson and John Hayes; nephew, Jerry Davidson; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Goldie and Jewel H. Elliott.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Susan Crump, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Kathy Crump, of Conifer, Colorado; grandsons, Brett and Ted Crump, of Tulsa, OK; two sisters, Connie Davidson and Norma Hayes, of Chickasha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Judy Crump, of Chickasha, Larry and Sharon Crump, of Lexington, Missouri, Leon and Fran Crump, of Columbia, South Carolina, John and Glenda Crump, of Chickasha; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Dwight Woodward, of Cyril, Oklahoma; and many loved nieces and nephews. Kenneth dearly loved his family and took great pride in his children and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 1284, Chickasha, OK 73023; or the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave, Bob Hope Road, Miami, Florida 33136.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Janice Arlene [Elliott] Crump
May 25, 1932 ~ February 13, 2018


Janice Elliott Crump was born May 25, 1932 in Albert, Oklahoma to Jewel H. Elliott and Goldie Hamilton Elliott. She died February 13, 2018.

Janice went to school in Ft. Cobb, OK until her sophomore year in high school when the family moved to Apache to establish Elliott Department Store. She was chosen to go to Girls’ State her junior year and graduated from Apache High School in 1949 as Salutatorian of her class. She received a B.A. in English from Oklahoma College for Women [now University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma “USAO”] in Chickasha in 1953 and a Master of Education Degree with a major in Library Science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1973.

On November 26, 1952, Janice married Kenneth Eugene Crump of Chickasha. Janice and Kenneth had two children, Kenneth E. Crump Jr. and Kathy Lynn Crump. During the 49 years of their marriage, the family lived in Apache and Chickasha until Kenneth and Janice moved to Norman in 2001.

Early in her professional life, Janice worked as secretary of First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha, a Civil Service Clerk at Ft. Sill Army Base in Lawton, a social worker for Chickasha Public Schools and a social worker for the Grady County Department of Human Services. Later, she taught high school English and was the school librarian at Apache High School from 1968 through 1980. She taught English at Chickasha Junior High School from 1980-1984 at which time she became the school’s library media specialist until her retirement in June of 1994. She also served as an adjunct faculty member at USAO and Oklahoma City Community College for three years, teaching freshman writing classes.

Janice was a member of Oklahoma Education Association, Oklahoma Library Association, past member of the Governor’s Mansion Library Committee, Chickasha United Teachers’ Association, Chickasha Educational Advisory Council and Chickasha Public Schools Educational Foundation. She was recognized as a finalist for the Polly Clarke Award for Outstanding Library Media Specialist.

Janice and Kenneth were Elders of the First Presbyterian Church of Chickasha where she sang in the choir for many years. She later served as an Elder of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norman.

She was preceded in death by Kenneth; her parents, Jewel and Goldie Elliott; Kenneth’s parents, J.D. and Leona Crump; her brothers-in-law, Bill Crump, Austin Davidson, John Hayes, Larry Crump and Bob Crump; her sisters-in-law, Connie Davidson and Norma Hayes and nephew, Jerry Davidson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ken Crump and Shela Crump of Tulsa, OK; daughter Kathy Crump and Chris Honeman of Conifer, CO; grandchildren Brett Crump and his wife, Sarin of Tulsa, OK, Ted Crump and his wife Tina of Dallas, TX and granddaughter Kiran Crump of Tulsa, OK and great-grandson Judah Crump of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law Sharon Crump of Lexington, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Leon and Fran Crump, John and Glenda Crump and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 24th Avenue S.W., Norman, OK at 11:00 a.m. on March 12, 2018 with Dr. Jim Burns and Reverend Tracy Evans officiating. Interment will occur privately at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha prior to the memorial service.
