ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDS TO STORY OF SUNDAY'S SHOOTING

New information has come to light in the shooting death of Jerry Coggin, Sr. which occurred early Sunday morning. Police answered a call at 6:58 a.m. and upon arrival at the scene located at 421 Alabama, officers found Coggin dead from gunshot wounds. He was lying on the floor of the trailer.

Police believe that the weapon used was a .38 caliber handgun. According to Det. Gary Carter, Coggins' actual address was 409 S. 3rd. He apparently was not staying at the trailer as was reported in Monday's edition of the Daily Express.

Carter says Coggin kicked the door open at the trailer and that, according to his information, the individual that police believe shot Coggin, a juvenile, had been staying in the trailer where the shooting occurred. When Coggin kicked in the door at the residence the suspect allegedly shot and fatally wounded him, according to Carter.

Police have interviewed the suspect but Det. Lewis Roller stated Tuesday morning, "Due to the circumstances of this case, no arrests have been made yet."
