Funeral service for Robert A. "Bob" Clark, 95, of Harrah, formerly of Chickasha, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2001, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Jerl Joslin will officiate.

Robert A. "Bob" Clark was born on June 24, 1905, in Park Rapids, Minn.

He died on Tuesday, May 1, 2001, in Oklahoma City.

Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Edith O. [Adair] Clark
April 8, 1913 ~ May 23, 2002


Funeral services for Edith O. Clark, 89, of Chickasha, will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma, with Kim Hayes and Larry Hatfield officiating and Rodney Waldron assisting. Clark was born April 8, 1913, in Horatio, Arkansas, to John Darvin Adair and Josephine Allen Adair. She died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in Chickasha.

Edith came to Chickasha with her family when she was eight years old. She attended Lucille, Middleberg and Amber Public Schools. She married Sherman M. Clark on April 23, 1932, in Tabler, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker most of her life, where she lived with her family on a farm east of Chickasha. Edith was an Avon sales lady for many years. She also served as a caregiver for others in their homes. Edith enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Bittercreek Home Extension Club. She attended the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, one sister, and her husband, Sherman, on January 27, 1975. She was also preceded in death by four children, Arnold Eugene Clark, Rheta Lynn Clark, Lyndel Clark and Sherman Lowell "Sonny" Clark, and one great-grandson, Jarrett Lee Frye.

Survivors include seven daughters and sons-in-laws, Ruth and James Seale of Bethany, Valerie Dunking, of Oklahoma City, Laurencene and Buddy Collier, of Union City, Ann Fike, of Montgomery, Alabama, Sharon and Pete Martinez, of Moore, LaVonda and Gary Waldron, of Oklahoma City, Gaynl and Ted Sharpe, of Tabler; one special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elton and Lavera Mills; thirty-three grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Ashley Huynh; and a very special thank you, Dr. Hess, for being my doctor.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Sherman M. Clark
April 23, 1913 ~ January 27, 1975


Funeral service for Sherman M. Clark, 61, Route 3, Chickasha, will be at 10:30 am Thursday in the chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home with Rev. F. L. Ridley, Rev. Jerry Ridley and Rev. Bobby Creps officiating.

Mrs. Clark was born April 23, 1913, in Hydro. He died Monday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year.

He moved to Chickasha in 1916 from Hydro with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Clark. He resided in the Amber community for 27 years. He has resided in the Tabler area for the past year. A farmer-stockman, he married Miss Edith Adair on April 23, 1932, in Chickasha.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Tabler. One daughter and two sons preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Edith, of the home; one son, Sharman L. Clark of Chickasha; seven daughters, Mrs. Ruth Seal of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Varlerie Rayburn of Norman, Mrs. Linda Collier of Union City, Mrs. Ann Fike of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Sharon Martinez of Oklahoma City, Mrs. La Vonda Waldron of Moore, and Mrs. Gaynel Sharpe of Chickasha; his mother, Mrs. Katie Clark of Chickasha; two brothers, Rondle Clark and A. F. Clark of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Spoon of Alex, Mrs. Florence Lee of Ada; and Mrs. LaVera Mills of Blanchard; and 27 grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Mearl Gene Clark
November 22, 1927 ~ August 22, 2010


Funeral service for Mearl Gene Clark, 82, of Chickasha will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010 at the Sharon Baptist Church.

Mearl Gene Clark was born Nov. 22, 1927 in Blanchard, the son of Forrest Lee and Flora (Whinery) Clark. He died Aug. 22, 2010 in Oklahoma City.

Mearl graduated from Middleburg Schools.

He married Dollene on Dec. 22, 1946 in Chickasha.

She preceded him in death May 21, 2010.

Mearl farmed, hauled hay and was a dairy farmer. He also worked as an electrician for American Iron in Oklahoma City and for Phillips Petroleum.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Lyndel G. Clark, June 6, 1977; parents; one brother, Forrest Lee Clark 2004.

Survivors include one daughter, Rene Durington and husband, George; one son, Shawn Clark; three sisters, Wilma Henderson Odom, Nadine Adams, Winnie Janes; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Dollene R. Hill Clark, age 81, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday May 25, 2010 at the Sharon Baptist Church.

Dollene R. Hill Clark was born July 14, 1928 in Naples, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Loyd R. and Ozell [Rodgers] Hill. Dollene died Friday May 21, 2010 in Chickasha.

She and Mearl Gene Clark were married at the First Baptist Church in Chickasha December 22, 1946.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church and of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Her son, Lyndel G. Clark preceded her on June 6th 1977.

Survivors include: her husband Mearl Clark of the home; one son: Shawn Clark; one daughter: Renee Durington and husband George; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister: Charlene Smith and many nephews and nieces and friends that were all like family, and special care giver Jo Bennett.

Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Betty Ann Clark was born February 1, 1937, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Carrel and Annie Lee [Barefield] Drewry, and died Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Marlow, Oklahoma.

Betty lived in Chickasha most of her life. She worked for Cummins Supply of Chickasha and later worked for Grady Memorial Hospital, where she retired.

She was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers: Carrel Drewry, Jr., Billy Joe Drewry, and Bobby Gene Drewry; 3 sisters: Anna Lee Grayson, Ella Mae Ellis, and Estella Massey.

Survivors include: 1 daughter and her husband: Beverly and Gary Cook, of Marlow, Oklahoma; 4 sisters: Delores Hatfield and husband, Sonny, of Lewisville, Texas, Pearl Dugger, of Oklahoma City, Elizabeth Bowen and husband, Johnny, of Chickasha, Cora Whitener and husband, Albert, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Walter Drewry and wife, Becky, of Chickasha and J. W. Drewry, of Chickasha; 2 grandchildren: Brent Cook and wife, Erin, of Katy, Texas, Tamra Cook, of Marlow Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Lillie Mae Drewry, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Shawn Larue Clark
October 24, 1949 ~ September 11, 2013


Shawn Larue Clark, age 63, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in Chickasha. A Celebration of Life for Shawn will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st, at Sharon Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Bawden officiating. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Shawn was born in Chickasha on October 24, 1949, the son of Mearl Gene and Dollene Roberta [Hill] Clark.

Shawn attended Friend School until eighth grade and later graduated from Chickasha High School. He went on to attend the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma to study music.

In August 1968, he joined the Air Force and served his country as a Sergeant in Vietnam, where he earned a Purple Heart among other commendations until his honorable discharge in May 1972.

Shawn made a career as a truck driver, hauling grain and hay with his father, M.G. Clark.

Shawn had a wonderful sense of humor and teased everyone; anyone who knew him would confirm his 'orneriness'.

He was a multi-talented musician who loved to play the piano and sing, especially Christian hymns to his mother and Elvis tunes to his daughters.

He also loved to hunt, fish, and water ski, occasionally barefoot or in his cowboy boots.

He is survived by his daughters, Shelbi Lynn and Kenzi JoLee; Shelbi's children, grandsons, Kalon , 11, Kade, 8 and granddaughter, Leighton, 2 ½;sister Renee and brother-in-law George Durington and their children, Tanner and Callie; his brother Lyndel's daughters, Milynda and Michelle; great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins, and many friends, good neighbors, his close-knit trucking' family, and canine companion Buddy.

Loving parents, Mearl and Dollene, and brother Lyndel Gene preceded him in death.
