Dorothy Lee Bryan
July 9, 1921 ~ April 27, 2004


Dorothy Lee Bryan was born July 9, 1921, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Charles W. and Lulu Lee [Lowe] Jones. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the St. Simeon Episcopal Home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 18 days, following a lengthy illness.

She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Central High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma for 2 years, where she met her future husband, John Victor Bryan. They married in Oklahoma City on March 25, 1942. While he was in the service she stayed in Oklahoma City.

After the war, they moved to Chickasha, his home town. After his death in 1958 she enrolled at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, and got her degree to teach. She taught English and Latin in Chickasha.

She moved to Norman in 1968 and taught in elementary school there until her retirement in 1980.

Mrs. Bryan enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. She was a good mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother, a loving teacher, always kind and smiling. She was a member of McFarland Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, John Victor Bryan and his wife Linda of Anadarko, and Dave Bryan and wife Cindy of Tulsa; one daughter, Sharon Ray of Anchorage, Alaska; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of loving friends and former students.

Graveside funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 30th, at Fairlawn Cemetery, 2700 N. Shartel, Oklahoma City, under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko.
