Charles Nelson Brooks
February 3, 1933 ~ September 23, 2009


Graveside service for Charles N. Brooks, age 76 of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009, in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Charles was born the son of James H. Brooks and Ruth P. Wallace Brooks on February 3, 1933 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma. He died on September 23, 2009, at his home in rural Verden.

He married Lorene A. Ivester on August 30, 1964, in Texas.

Charles worked most of his life in the oilfield as a unit operator and pumper.

After retirement, he enjoyed taking discarded items and creating art with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Anna Mae and Jane.

Survivors include: Wife: Lorene Brooks of the home, Sister: Delora Airrington of Norman, Son: Charles Brooks, Jr. of Prague, Daughter: Cathy Pierce of Chickasha, Daughter: Kay Novotny of Duncan, Daughter: Rhonda Humphrey of Atoka, Step-son: Jerry Bailey of Dickson, Step-son: Sam Bailey of Ponca City, Step-son: Glenn Bailey of Howe, Texas, Step-son: Wes Bailey of Chickasha, Nineteen Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren.

Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Cancer Research.

Lorene Alice [Ivester] Brooks
February 27, 1932 ~ March 13, 2021


Funeral service for Lorene Alice Ivester Brooks will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Keneda will officiate.

Lorene Alice Ivester Brooks departed her earthly life to begin her heavenly life with her Savior on March 13, 2021. She was born on Feb. 27, 1932 in Verden, OK to Whit Ivester and Ruby Watson Ivester.

Lorene spent most of her childhood in Oklahoma. Lorene had four sons who are Wesley and wife Darlene Bailey of Chickasha, Glenn Bailey and Teresa Estrada of Howe, Texas, Sam and wife Gayla Bailey of Ponca City, OK and Jerry and wife Peggy Bailey of Dickson, OK. Lorene married Charles Brooks in 1964 and they were married for 44 years. Charles preceded her in death in 2009.

Lorene is survived by her sister Lois Cook of Chickasha, sister Bettye Black of Edmond, and brother Wayne and wife Ann Ivester of Maryland. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Virginia Ivester and brother-in-law Wayne Hammons. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents Whit and Ruby Ivester, her sister Dorothy Patterson, sister Leona Dickey, sister Lelia Ivester, sister Jean Hammons, and brother Jim Ivester.

Lorene was blessed with eight grandchildren who are Scott and wife Candice Bailey, Dale Bailey, Michael and wife Marci Bailey, Alecia and husband Brad Taylor, Casey and wife Meiyi Bailey, Josh Bailey, Jacob Bailey, and Brad and wife SooSeon Bailey. Lorene has twelve great-grand children who are Hayden Bailey, Wesley Bailey, Levi Bailey, Lane Bailey, Dylan Bailey, Jackson Bailey, Alaurie Taylor, Braden Taylor, Oliver Taylor, Chloe Bailey, Roguen Bailey, and Emma Bailey. She has five great-great grandchildren who are Aaron, Cyrus, Nathan, Trista and Deacon.

Lorene has four step-children who are Chuck Brooks, Cathy and husband Bruce Pierce, Kay and husband Charlie Novotny, and Rhonda and Hos Humphrey.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the tender loving care from all the staff at Glenhaven Assisted Living Center where Lorene resided for almost two years and the Hospice nurses and workers that assisted Lorene in her last days.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
