May 16, 1911 ~ June 11, 2002


Funeral service for Mary Lee Atkins, 91, of Chickasha, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church, Chickasha.

Viewing will be held until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.

Mary Lee Atkins was born May 16, 1911, and died on Tuesday, June 11, 2002.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mary Lee Atkins, 91, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mary Lee Atkins was born May 16, 1911, in Ashburn, Georgia, the daughter of Nathan Oliver and Sallie Margaret [Fink] Rhyne, and died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Chickasha.

She and Thaddie Boyd Atkins were married June 20, 1929, in Atoka, Oklahoma. They were married for 64 1/2 years. He preceded her in death December 6, 1993.

Mary enjoyed making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and loved flowers.

She was a seamstress and did alterations for Hicks.

Mary was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jimmy Allen Hightower, 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Survivors include: 3 sons: Daniel B. Atkins and wife, Frances, of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Vernon Glenn Atkins and wife, Wanda, of McLoud, Oklahoma, Robert Nick Atkins and wife, Judi, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 3 daughters: Margaret O. VanStrien and husband, Donald, of Hudsonville, Michigan, Bertha M. Hightower of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Annie M. Wudi and husband, Gene, of Stratford, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Virgil Rhyne and wife, Marie, of Coalgate, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Ethel Ennis, of Coalgate, Oklahoma; 26 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
