Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate was born February 18, 1919, in Raisinville, Mich., and died on Monday, June 2, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Funeral service for Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate, 84, of Chickasha, Okla., will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Bell will officiate.

Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate was born February 18, 1919, in Raisinville, Mich., and died on Monday, June 2, 2002, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate
February 18, 1919 ~ June 2, 2003


Funeral service for Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate, age 84, of Chickasha.

Oklahoma, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Bell will officiate.

Clarence Elsworth "Jack" Applegate was born the son of Thomas E. Applegate and Rose Hardinger Applegate on February 18, 1919, in Raisinville, Michigan. He died on June 2, 2003, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jack grew up on the family farm near Raisinville, Michigan. After high school, he began working in construction. In 1940, he was drafted into the United States Army and served until 1945. During this time, he served with the 101st Airborne Division and was involved in the D-day Invasion of France as well as other battles. He received three Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Presidential Unit Citations. After the war, Jack came to Chickasha and began working for Chickasha Iron Works. Jack married Daisy Pybas in 1945 in Chickasha. He later worked for Chickasha Manufacturing, retiring in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. His w ife, Daisy Applegate, preceded him in death in 1983, and his daughter, Roseann Applegate, preceded him in death in 2001.

Survivors include: son and wife: Dr. J. Phillips and Perri Applegate of Chickasha; sister: Bertha Conrad of Tecumseh, Michigan, sister: Nellie Ross of Sabine, Michigan; nephew: Paul Dykes of Bethany; nephew: Kendall Dykes of Broken Arrow; niece: Sue Ann Jones of Chickasha; niece: Tereeca Boyce of Chickasha; nephew: Bob Jones of Chickasha; and nephew: John Jones of Chickasha.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery.

Services will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
