Tulsa Woman Buried At Alex Wednesday

The remains of Mrs. Ida Louise Roads of Tulsa, arrived at the depot in Alex, Tuesday morning and on account of no one calling for it and the name of the one in whose cars it was sent being misspelled the relatives could not be located until Wednesday morning when they came and claimed the body. The relatives who were coming overland had to detour and were water bound, but had wired an undertaker at Chickasha to meet the train and take the corpse to the undertaker's establishment and hold until they arrived, but he failed to meet the train and the corpse was carried on to Alex, where it was being held when the relatives arrived Wednesday morning.

Mrs. Roads, whose maiden was Hart, was a daughter of Mrs. I. J. Gorden, who was a former resident of Alex, but now lives in Oklahoma City.

She died at Tulsa, her home city, Sunday, October 2, 1927, and the body was shipped here for burial.

She was a member of the Methodist church and a short religious service was held at the grave conducted by Rev. H. T. Breece local pastor. A few hymns were sung as the body was laid to rest in Morris cemetery southeast of Alex, in the presence of the members of the family and a few friends from town.

The following relatives were in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Gorden, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Linn, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Ruth Wilkerson, Tulsa; Mrs. Bettie Skaggs, Okmulgee; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jenkins, Lindsay, C. A. Lenton, Chicago; and L. O. Gorden, Lindsay.

The relatives desire to thank the people of Alex for the kindness shown them in the burial of their daughter and sister.
