James Robert "Jim" Nolen Sr
November 24,1934 ~ September 5, 2006


Services for James Robert "Jim" Nolen, 71, Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Jerry Meek officiating. Burial is 2 p.m. at Alex Cemetery.

Mr. Nolen died September 5, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born November 24, 1934, at Alex, to Robert E. Lee and Algie Odessa Rowsey Nolen.

He attended school at Hanford and Atascadero, Calif., where he was a football player and also played for a short time as a minor league football player for the Bakersfield Spoilers.

He married Donna Bell Denney August 15, 1953.

Mr. Nolen retired from the railroad, was employed with Ressler Well Service, and was later employed as a maintenance supervisor with the Chickasaw Nation. He also served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Nolen, of the home; two daughters, Trudy Rutledge and husband Joel and Betty Jean "Jeannie" Nolen, all of Ada; three sons, Jimmy Nolen, Lloyd Nolen and wife Sharon, all of Ada, and Edward Nolen and wife Rhonda, Buna, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Angela Paul and husband Brian, Bobby Gallagher and wife Angie, John Gallagher and wife Heather, Melissa Marion and husband Brandon, Amy Nolen, Jessie Nolen and wife Rose, Donna Saaty and husband William, Brittany Nolen and Martin Thompson, Lynn Mitchell and husband Jimmy, Tammy Nolen, Jeannie Nolen, Eddie Nolen, and Cassie Nolen; 21 great-grandchildren, Lonnie and Logan Paul, Cole Gallagher, Kohner and Kayden Gallagher, Christian, Colton, Chance Minyen, Macie and Makenzi Marion, Jacob, Cody, Michael, Raiden and Kainen Nolen, Sean and Dawn Sledd, Joshua Saaty, Tyler and Andrew Mitchell, and Tyler Frazier; a sister, Joyce McKee, Hilton; four brothers, David Nolen and wife Nancy, Tucumcari, N.M., Jack Nolen and wife Louise, Alex, La., Darrell Penny and wife Judy, Deville, La., and John Penny, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bearers are his grandsons, Bobby Gallagher, John Gallagher, Jessie Nolen, Eddie Nolen, Brandon Marion, William Saaty, Brian Paul and Jimmy Mitchell.

Honorary bearers are J. T. Miller, J. C. Sims, Montana Sibble and Roger Scribner. Criswell Funeral Home, Ada, OK.
