Funeral services for Joey Johnson, Jr., 60, of Alex, were held May 11, 1988 at the Alex High School. Rev Bill Peters, pastor of the Southern Baptist Chapel of Alex officiated.

Joey Johnson, Jr. was born June 11, 1927 in the Friend Community and died May 8, 1988 in Chickasha. Mr. Johnson attended school at Friend. He later attended college at Oklahoma State and Centenary University at Shreveport, La.

He and Billie Cross were married December 12, 1955 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. Johnson had lived in this area most of his life. He retired from Halliburton after 24 years in 1977. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Army.

Survivors include: his wife, Billie Johnson of the home in Alex; two daughters, Connie Jean Zanola of Elmore City and Nelda Graham of Alex; two sons, Joey Johnson III of Alex and John David Johnson of Okinawa, Japan; his mother Lillie Johnson of Alex; four sisters, Willena Brown of Dallas, Tx., Phyllis Cornelius of Hereford, Tx., Jo Ann Gossman of Yukon and Jan Story of Lawton; two brothers, Richard Johnson of Alex and James Johnson of Chickasha.

Interment was held in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Billy June [Cross] Johnson
April 24, 1936 ~ February 2, 2010


Funeral service for Billie June Johnson, 73, of Alex, will be at 1 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Southern Baptist Church of Alex.

Johnson was born April 24, 1936 in Paducah, Texas, the daughter of John and Bessie Cross. She died February 2, 2010 in Oklahoma City.

She and Joey Johnson, Jr. were married December 12, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX.

Mr. Johnson worked for Halliburton overseas from 1963-1975 and the couple moved to Alex in 1975. She was a proud and devoted wife, mother of four and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. She was always a joy to be around and had a laugh no one could ever forget.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Alex.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joey Johnson, Jr. on May 8, 1988.

Billie is survived by four children, daughter Connie Zanola and husband Frank Dickinson, OKC, OK; daughter Nelda Graham and husband Rod, Wilson, OK; son Joey Johnson III and wife Kim, Alex, OK; and son John Johnson, OKC, OK ;twin sister Betty Hadley, Witt, IL; one brother, Roy Aldy Fort Worth, TX;. Billie had 10 grandchildren, Natasha Garrison and husband Billy, Lindsey Ball and husband Daniel, Rodney Graham and wife Kasie, Zack Zanola and wife Debbie, Derrick Johnson, Chelsea Zanola, Shalyn Johnson, Caleb Zanola, Taylor Johnson and Janie Johnson. Billie had 5 great grandchildren Dakota, Isaac, Riley and Abigail Garrison and Lillyan Ball.Billie was always full of life and will be missed by all.

Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
