Roland Buford Brashears
March 1, 1929 ~ October 8, 2013


Funeral services for Roland B. Brashears, 84, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, in the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah with Mike McReynolds officiating.

Roland Brashears was born in Alex, Oklahoma, on March 1, 1929, the son of Troy Brashears and Hazel Foster Brashears.

He died Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Chickasha.

He grew up in Alex and attended school there until the tenth grade when he left school to help his dad with his cattle hauling business.

Roland married the love of his life Ramona Jo Cox on May 18, 1947, in Alex, Oklahoma.

He had been a heavy equipment operator in the oilfield. He also owned and operated his own dozer business for several years. He was later employed with Stidham Trailers as a dispatcher for many years. He was also employed with Halliburton as an over the road truck driver until his retirement.

He served on the Alex School Board for seventeen years. Roland was a 32nd Degree Mason. He had received his fifty year pin last fall.

He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening in his spare time.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah.

He was preceded in death by both parents Troy and Hazel Brashears.

Survivors include; wife; Ramona Jo Brashears of the home, son; Kendall Brashears and wife Paula of Chickasha, OK, son; Michael Brashears and wife Gwen of Duncan, OK, son; Bart Brashears and wife Connie of Blackwell, OK, sister; Fern Workman of Chickasha, OK, brother; Belford Brashears and wife Kay of Duncan, OK, grandchildren; Shelli Brashears of Sulphur, OK, Melissa and Marshall McCombs of Melissa, TX, Jeremy and Laura Brashears of Enid, OK Shane and Amanda Brashears of Lawton, OK, Katresa and Randyl Gean of Coldwater, KS, Kendra and Avery Griffin of Harker Heights, TX, Angela and Jon Studnek of Charlotte, NC, Amanda and Kyle Jones of The Woodlands, TX, Chris Brashears of Rome, Italy, Melissa Gardner of Oklahoma City, OK, Kristi and Monty Hayes of Fairview, OK and Jason and Chelsey Ewing of Fairview, OK and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Ninnekah First Baptist Church at 915 E Dell, Ninnekah, OK 73067. The family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home on Friday the 11th from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
