Williamson, Bill, 87, passed away Saturday, after a long courageous battle with cancer on January 14, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born August 21, 1924 in Oklahoma to Noah and Alice (Knox) Williamson.
Bill served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he attended Oklahoma A&M. He was a member of the varsity football team and graduated with a degree in education. Because of his love of football, he became a high school football coach and teacher in Oklahoma and Texas for many years. He later became a school textbook salesman and retired as the owner of his own textbook sales business in the early 1990's. After his retirement, Bill divided his time between Arizona, Oklahoma and Texas with family and friends.
Bill is survived by sons, Randy Williamson of Norman and Don Williamson and wife Liz of Houston, TX; daughters, Debbie Williamson Douglass of Norman and Dr. Sherrie Williamson of Norman; and two grandchildren, Drew Douglass and Tyler Douglass. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dean Williamson; and sister, Van Dale Alexander.
Flowers may be sent to Havenbrook Funeral Home all day on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 to be taken to the service. Donations may be made in memory of Bill to the charity of your choice.
Private services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley, OK. Arrangements for Bill and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
