Leonard William Trekell
March 7, 1951 - December 8, 2023

Funeral services for Leonard W. Trekell will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in White Cemetery, Hunter, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Leonard W. Trekell, age 72, of North Enid, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on December 8th in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leonard was born to Homer W. Trekell and Wanda Jean (Smith) Trekell on March 7, 1951, in Enid, Oklahoma. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1969. After high school, he joined the military, serving as an Army paratrooper until he was honorably discharged.

In 1973, Leonard married the love of his life, Sharon, sharing 50 wonderful years of marriage. The couple was blessed with three loving children: Misty, Sarah, and James.

Leonard held many positions during his tenure at Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 2011 after 37 years of service. In addition, Leonard also gave his time to serving on the North Enid Town Council until health issues prevented him from being able to do so.

Leonard had many hobbies and interests. He loved to tell stories, laugh and took great pride in caring for his lawn. Hobbies included collecting classic cars, watching football and reading. He was happiest anytime he was able to spend time with his wife, children, and amazing grandchildren.

Leonard will be remembered as a loving husband, father, provider, and, most importantly, "Papa." He was a fan of many genres of music. Numerous hours were spent listening to some of his favorites, including Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, and Crystal Gayle.

Leonard is survived by his wife Sharon Trekell; children Misty Shirley and husband Jay, Sarah Trekell, and James Trekell and wife Christina; grandchildren Jabez, Keyana, and Ryder Trekell and Reid Shirley; siblings Jimmie Trekell, Sharlyn King, Ron O'Neal, Carolyn Morrow, and brother-in-law Larry Bowles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer W. Trekell and Wanda Jean McAtee; his brother, Donald O'Neal; and sister, Marilyn McAtee.

Memorial donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
